I have an old Blond head Fender Bassman. The serial number seems to be a 64 but the parts and looks are that of a 63 such as handle grill....etc.

I am having problems with the amp burning fuses lately. The bass channel when you plug a guitar in ...turn the volume up...sequels a high pitch sound. The red pilot light is intermittent. Other than that the regular channel of the amp sounds great.

Any ideas? Has someone come across this before? Help!

Sounds like a filter or bias cap problem to me. If they're dragging the power supply tranny down, that might account for the flickering pilot lamp and the blown fuses. If they crash and burn altogether the tranny may end up a "crispy critter". Have the amp serviced immediately. JMO.

Thanks for the advice. I was going to see if it was something simple like replacing tubes ...but wanted to check. I love this old amp..its worth getting it fixed.

Thanks
