Friend brought over his 2010 Fender Reissue Revern Unit. Compared it to my 1966. Both plugged into my Pro Amp, using a Telecaster.

The RI has a much brigther tone. And not quite the range of control of the old '66. It had TS RI 6V6GT, Philips JAN 12AT7WC, and a Tungsrams ECC83.

The 1966 sounded much more subtle with a bit more dial-in control (IMHO). And surprisingly, maybe a bit more "dripping wet." The RI may need some modding and tube swapping. Dunno.

Sorry for poor photos. Was in a hurry. Try to get some better ones later.

BMW...love that Pro with Reverb unit on top 8) Thanks for the comparison...nice to know info on the RI Verb. The RI sounded good just not quite as lush as the Original?

Thanks, for the comments. The Pro Amp (it's a 6G5-A circuit) has quite a unique tone. Running 5881's. A slightly different tone stack, than the 6G5 (which uses 6L6GC). And the unusual three 12AX7 driven oscillator/vibrato section. Even though it has solid-state recitifcation (there is a punched hole in the chassis, for a tube rectifer), the amp has pretty good "flavor."

It is not tight or boomy, in the least. Really sounds like a GZ34/5AR4 driven amp. And the D130F is a amazing speaker. Warm, clean, bass (but only when when you hit low notes--- not that booming overwhelming bass of some amps). Sustain and the fade of the vibrato is Dick Dale crazy.

With the tube Reverb Unit... pure, early REM. Tone is like those old Ampegs. Nice and shimmering. With the "drop a penny down an endless well" sound. Prolly much like a tweed Pro or Twin, with a little better bass and transients.

Will take some more photos of new reissued unit and post. As soon as I recover from two hellacious GY shifts.
