Just thought I'd show it, all original except for 3 prongs AC cable, a few electrolytics and vibrato channel knobs:

Pretty good, clean channel is louder than vibrato but I dont use vibrato. Bass not as powerful as my Bassman head, smaller transformer I guess, may break out earlier I think too, well less power means I push it harder too. Pretty good bass definition though, SS rectifier may help that. Good clean sound overall, a Tele sounds great on it with neck PU. Havent tried my TS on it yet so I dont know how noisy. All that is of course on that 4x12 underneath, GE-412, not the original 2x12 cab.

The Bandmaster wants to see a 4Ω load at the speaker jack so you have a bit of a mismatch there (IIRC the GE-412 enclosure is 8Ω). No harm is likely though. You'll find the "normal" channel is frequently louder per identical volume/tone control settings than the "vibrato" channel due to the insertion loss of the tremolo circuit, a phenomena common to both blackfaces and silverfaces.

Glad to hear the tone is pleasing.

Yea, I'd have to wire it series/parallel but I dont anticipate any harm either so I'll just leave it at that for now, laziness prevailed :) Those cabs dont open in the back, have to remove big handles and rewire through there, PITA.

But I'll keep my eyes opened for an original 2x12 cab on CL if it doesnt break the bank.

Always nice to see new amp day with pics...and a Bandmaster to boot. Nice score.

If you're handy with tools you can assemble one of these in a couple of days......

Yea, a big 15" may sound nice with it, bigger lows and cut the clean.

I prefer to configure these Showman cabs for a pair of 12's......

Image

The larger enclosure provides more internal volume which allows the speakers to operate more efficiently and produce a punchier tone.

Likewise, the vertical orientation reduces the cab's stage footprint and positions the amp head for more convenient front panel adjustments......
