Not really a Fender (but maybe it should have been).

I just picked up a Bruno Cowtipper Pro 22, a wonderful name for a 22 watts, 6V6 powered Deluxe Reverb type amp. I have waited for several months on a used one until he got tired of waiting for the price he wanted and lowered it. I was there at once as I knew I wanted it (I tried it months earlier).

This is the real stuff, as in "not made from the cheapest components that does the job" like a lot of new amps: Solid fingerjointed woods, ceramic tube sockets, PTP wiring with carbon resistors, the right quality caps, the expensive pots and a Celestion Heritage speaker. It sounds like a blackface Deluxe Reverb (they say, I have never played one) but with a new components and reliability.

Actually I have never been much into all that vintage stuff but after testing a lot of amps I had to realise that I didn't really like the steril sound that most new amps produce and I had to look elsewhere for the sound I like. This one does exactly what I want with a fat but clear compressed tube sound that snaps at every note and sustains it with a wonderful singing tone. It also goes from clean to overdrive with a gliding transition proving more and more sustain and no harsh grit at all no matter how you dial it.

Happy picker

Jim
