Sure would be nice to have a peek under the hood (I've told you about that fetish of mine). A blown tranny, funky mods, or electrolytic guts all over the chassis may mean much more than $450 in repairs.

Just my 2ƒ worth...

+1

No gut shots, no bids.

Bandmasters are plentiful on Ebay and elsewhere -- why bet the ranch on some unknown maverick?

If you look at the back photos, you can see corrosion on the tube holders. To me this is not a good sign. The amp may have been in a non-conditioned garage or shack for ages. If the tangs are rusted, the electronic parts, wiring, tranny, may need replacing. Even if you do the job, you maybe looking at well over $500, parts & you have to count some of your labor.

You can get a good SF Bandmaster head on EBay for under $1K. Check out link. I'm not related to my neighbor... no I mean not related to seller. :)

This is a Fender Band-Master amplifier. Did pwoer on when plugged in but has not been tested with a guitar. Back says 1.5 amp, 117 volts, 60 cycles. Is pretty dirty and th eoutside is worn. Not sure how well it works. Due to oversize box needed for shipping, extra weight has been added.
(Store: 5231)

i know it doesnt mean anything but.............

I currently own several vintage Bandmasters, both blackface and silverface, and I never paid more than five bills for any of them.

Unless the amp were a blonde 6G7 or a documentable pre-CBS AA763, that's really all they're worth on the secondary market.

There is also a blackface Bassman Head listed. Looks to be in better shape than the Band-Master

Speaking from experience... you have to be a bit adventurous to bid at shopgoodwill.com, but sometimes you can score a pretty sweet deal.
