It's not hard to get confused over the era between tweed and blackface.

Primarily because the brownface "star" shone for such a brief period during Fender's history. Likewise, production numbers per model were relatively small within that era as FEIC began to face stiff competition from new companies eager to cash in on the growing electric guitar craze. The change-over to blackface cosmetics and circuitry was as dramatic a statement as could be made and even though their time in production was comparable (roughly) to the browns, Fender cranked those out by the thousands.

Right RJ...and it seems that the "classic Fender sound" is usually attributed to the tweeds and BF amps...and rightfully so,but that cool midrange honk of the browns that guys like us love, fills such an important gap in that "classic sound"....and people don't even know they heard those blondes and browns on many songs.
I really am beginning to favor that Super you like so much, because that midrange and those 2 10s just sound so good for the blues...those Webers are getting better all the time....I've never owned a 2x10 until this one,I'm getting addicted!
One thing I would like to ask you,are the tone stacks on that 6G4 interactive at all? it sure seems to be but more subtle that say a 5E3....is it my imagination?

To an extent, yes. But I'm guessing that yours has a center-tapped treble control, which permits actual "cut" and "boost" on either side of the "5" position. The 6G4 schematic does not reflect this configuration -- you'd have to open the amp up and visually inspect to confirm this.
