Your gear is so cheap over there, 'my' Band Master top was more than 3 times $300....

About five years ago, I took a SF Bandmaster head (AA1069) and put the sucker into a 2 x10-inch cab. I swear it had to be one the loudest, best lead guitar amps. It absolutely drowns anything when cranked above "7."

I loeaded the cab with 2 Weber Vintage Alnicos. Ran Svetlana (=C=) 6L6GC's. Well, something else to thing about....

Winged Cs Svets are great tubes. Have run my BFSR on them for years.(although now I have Tung Sol RI 5881s in it). The C's are almost as big sounding as JJ's but much more "musical" to my ears. Going to do a BMR to Vibroverb clone thing soon. I never played through a 2x10 combo.

+1

This was an early '68 AB763 that I reconfigured into a 2 x 10 combo with early '60s brownface cosmetics......

A pair a Fender-branded CTS alnico's provide the grunt.

A real screamer that cuts through any mix like a damascus-steel bowie through warm butter......

That's a great looking amp, I can't find a single thing done wrong there!

That colour tolex with that front plate and that speaker cloth - simply beautiful and it just looks right - like a factory amp.

Thanks Jim, that was my intent.

I also stained the cab's interior and printed up a vintage-formatted tube chart to provide additional "mojo"......

That's a real beauty Arjay,I'll bet it sings.
I really like the 2x10 combo sound,I hadn't had one until the Super...it's becoming one of my favorites, there's always a little more ooommmph to 2 speakers, and not the same as a 4x10 Super Reverb.....I love it.

It's also substantially easier on my aging "constitution" during the load-in/load-out phase.

Yeah, there's a difference in the weight between my Pro Reverb and Super....so much that I wince and groan before I even pick up the PR.

Yeah, they're heavy. And costly. And a bee-itch to find parts sometimes. But guys like you and I and cedarblues wouldn't have it any other way.

The cab is a custom-fabricated kit that I bought on Ebay. If you have basic woodworking tools and skills plus some knowledge of Tolex covering and grill cloth, they're not too difficult to assemble.
