Very very cool. I am on the hunt for just the right amp for VR clone as well.
I had a mint 1968 Blackline Princeton Reverb chassis that I put into retro cab and stained the inside to look old. Also had some drip edge trim laying around and antiqued some Turquise sparkle grill cloth to match the age of the amp. The new owner was very happy. Nice when the work is done right and the amp sounds killer as well. Enjoy it along with your other vintage amps.
I have three so far. Hope to add in due time.

No really, Jim.

I'm physically at my music room's limit for storage space.

And my therapist is starting to voice concerns......

You know what it is, you know what it does, please do not drool on the Tolex......

This skillful recreation began life as a 1970 Super Reverb. It's been completely refurbished with new filter caps, new bottles, and new Merc-Mag iron for the power and output trannies. The speaker is a rare factory-reconed D130F with about 30 hrs on it. The original owner to whom I traded a 2001 AmStd Tele and an undisclosed amount of "e pluribus unum" could not recollect the identity of the custom builder who assembled this beauty but the attention to detail is impressive to say the least -- right down to the stained-and-aged cab interior and the braided stainless-steel cables for the reverb tank.

How does it sound, you ask?

Like a thousand blues-addicted angels, strumming harps personally tuned and tweaked by SRV himself!

Sweet stuff. Congrats.

Thanks, PF!

I've been gunning for a Vibroverb (or an accurate clone) ever since I first heard SRV's "In Step" album about twenty years ago.

Hi....I am new to the board (obviously) but do have a great appreciation for older Fender amps and SRV for that matter. Seems like a great thing you guys have going on here.
I was curious with your new VRC is the tone stack modified with different caps to voice it how you want or all basically stock? Just curious.
I have a 1965 BFSR and I changed some of the values to take the spike out of the high end. Also I wound up using RI Tung Sol 5881s and a 5751 in V1. (went through many a tube combination) Have 4 eber reconed 1973 CTS alnicos too.
Good luck with the new ride and enjoy.

I haven't had the opportunity to open the amp up and really inspect the chassis yet. My ears tell me that it's no longer the original AA270 revision though. I'll know more after a thorough exam. Currently the amp is running a pair of Sov-Tek 6L6GC's. I've been hoarding a pair of brown-base NOS 5881 Tung-Sol's lest a tweed cross my path, but I may install them in this amp instead.

you probabaly already know this but becareful with the NOS 5881. I had a pair of seemingly healthy 5881, although not NOS, and ran them in my BFSR at a moderate bias setting which wouldn't tax them so much. Worked great for about 8 hours then one tube went south and took a Mullard GZ34 with it. Pissed me off. But....live and learn I guess. I knew the plate voltage of the SR maybe at the limits of an original TS 5881 but I went for it anyway. I must tell you the RI Tung-Sol 5881s sound great to my ear and are better equiped to handle the plate voltage the SR dishes out. Many many hours logged in without a hiccup. AS they say YMMV....

I thought we already settled this...Cedarblues gets the BFPR, and I would be over for the Brown Face Pro :!: ...as for your therepists screw him, he certainly is not helping your addiction, and he is just eating up money you could use for MORE AMPS :!: :!: :!: ...or an addition to the house for more room

That's one reason I don't plan on getting remarried at this late stage in life!
I'll let my 3 boys figure it all out,I'm even leaving an amp and Strat for my oldest son who doesn't play, with instructions that I'm going to haunt him if he doesn't at least try....he's never been interested in music.
