Anyone know the manufacturer of the blue/waxy coupling caps that came on this 1974 Princeton I'm restoring? Thanks!

I couldn't rightly say with certainty but if you find out, lemme know. They look exactly like the shapeless blobs of black licorice in my 1980 Princeton......

ITW = Illinois Tool Works. Now called Illinois Capacitors. Tonewise, not as desirable as the MOLDED, Mallory 150, or OD's.

Got this from another board.

That sounds about right. The new IC stuff is all off-shore now -- total junk (and OEM in a lotta new amps from a variety of manufacturers).

Same as my 74 DR. I left some of them and changed out the caps in the PI circuit to tailor the amp a little more to my liking. But over all I think they sound pretty good. I use Mallory 150's to replace. I have used the ODs but for my ears, and maybe its just me, but the 150's sound a less brittle then the ODs. Also my ears are very treble sensitive. I darken up all my amps with cap value changes and alnico speakers. Fenders are bright enough IMO.
Basically...if it sounds good leave them in. Dont change the caps just for the sake of changing them.
