Did the Old fender Bassman 2x15 cabs have fiber glass insulation in the from the factory.
replacing speakers in one and it doesnt just curious because i saw some pics of ones that did

The fiberglass damping sheets were standard in all Fender piggyback cabs of the era. Its purpose is two-fold: to help tune the cab to a specific resonant frequency and (in the case of bass applications) to limit cone excursion and prevent damage to the speaker(s) at high power levels.

I have a 66 Bassman 2x12 cab and when I opened it the very first time, it had four fiberglass damping sheets and they looked brand new...as did the Jensens :!: I just wish the grill cloth was as clean as the inside of that cabinet :!:
