Some solder deeds done dirt cheap. Note original 0.047mfd Sprague couling cap in parallel with stock (schematic) 0.01 mfd one on "Presence" control. No idea why this was added. Removed it & see how it changes things (tone). As the guy said after jumping off & passing the 12th story of a 18-story building: "so far, so good."

Looks like most of the blue-molded Ajax caps on the eyelet board are still intact -- always a good sign. Dittos with the original-and-matching ELCO tube shields.

I would've sprung for the 105C filters but that's just me. The OEM Astrons are noteworthy (Mallory's seem to be more common).

Looks real nice, B-man. Clean and un-molested. Nothing to "un-fook".

Rawk On!

Arjay, I only replaced the coupling caps that were bad (two leaked DC) and one had a big boo-boo. I used 12PS Spragues and Sprague Atoms (for the PS) as I have a lot of them in stock. I guess I could have gone to better brand/rating. Maybe, next time (in 48 years, when amp will need next tune-up-- I hope). :D

I used a Infiniti-Cap (multi-cap) non-polar for that 2mfd bypass on one of the 7025 ( second gain ), as that's the closest thing I had to a 2 mfd/25 VDC polar cap. We'll see how that works out. Only had a 1mfd/400 VDC lying about...

Kiwame 5-watt resistors in PS sections. 2 watt for screen resistors. OEM values.

Oh, here's the photo of the speaker. Thought you might like it:

Be still my beating heart!

Oh yeah......like an old friend. Loyal and trustworthy.

The Sprague's you used will be fine -- I've installed them many times and they've never gave me cause for regret. Lately though, I've become a convert to F&T's. A bit more costly but I prefer their higher temp specs.

BTW, if you haven't already secured a cover for that Pro, D2F offers a ready-made padded job that's perfect. I bought one for my '64 Pro and it fits like the proverbial glove. Around seventy bucks IIRC.

Rawk on!

LMAO.

I couldn't afford to pay the taxes to even visit St. Clair County!

Hey did you ever get hold of Jeff (the fellow from Belleville that I sent you the addy for)?

He prolly knows some competent amp techs in the area since he's an amp junkie......like us.

I prolly couldn't afford your rates anyway!

Taxes...yeah this place is three to four times what I paid in Florida! I live in Madison County so it is a bit cheaper than St Clair...that place is 5 times more!

I sent him an e-mail but was having issues the other day, I will shoot him another and see if I get a response...Appreciate the contact.

I went by B&G today, nice place, my son loved his cymbols!

Madison, yeah. I forgot, you're just across the county line.

Property taxes out here run me a skosh less than a grand per year. I think they actually went down last year by a couple of bucks. Who'd a-thunk it, eh?

Arjay & T2, thanks for the comments. Got the thing buttoned up & cranking the thing through its paces to celebrate Daylight Savings! :?

I try to keep Leo's commitment to reliability,as well as Fenderosity tone in mind, while soldering. Kinda high bar to maintain.

Anyhow that D13F is nothing like I thought it would be. I was thinking a larger version of the two D120F I have in my Twin Reverb. Which is basically: "blowing your sox off into another galaxy" tone. Nothing like that at all. In the Pro, you have quite a nice midrange. Very sweet subtle tones. Very clean and responsive high note. Deep bass. Not a "thump-thump," heart stopping bass, but deep and textured-- like a church organ (kinda). I guess it reminds me of some nice tweed Bassman, I've played on.

This amp has a killer tremolo/vibrato EFX. You can play Dick Dale like chords all day long. Really rich tone with lots of harmonics. Both highs and lows are crystal clean. Think this amp would really be something hooked to a separate tube reverb unit.

All-in-all. Very nice. Now, to finish that DIY Tremolux project...

Old generic Korean Epiphone sounds quite tasty...

That's the sonic nature of the 6G5 and its cathode-follower tone-stack -- nothing at all like the later AB763's, more akin to a tweed in fact. Lansings installed in these platforms perform in a class all their own, much like the early Ampegs. The trem is the 3-tube "harmonic" type -- the lushest of the three different circuits designed by Leo. Try the opening chords to CCR's "Midnight Special" to really appreciate how heavenly it sounds......it's like a container-ship full of China White and a lifetime supply of clean needles to a trem junkie.

Thanks, guys! Got it from an estate sale, off EBay (no lying!) :)

It sat at just under $1500, for the longest time. Went for just over $1800. The estate/sellers had this BF Deluxe Reverb also up for grabs (prolly from same estate sale). I have one, so I let the Deluxe go. It was in about same condition. Like the original owner bought the amps. Played them for a few years, then stowed them away in the closet or AC/heated attic. I think that the DR went for just over $2K. Was in mint shape, too.

I kinda knew the sellers didn't know much about old Fender amps. They had taken the back off to take photos of the chassis/wire-works. And put the cover back on, up-side down. However, it was wrapped in three layers of wrapping plastic/bubble wrap. Put into one cardboard box and sealed real tight. Then, that box was put into another box. All tubes came in their own tube boxes inside another cardboard container. I felt like I lost 2000 calories, just getting to the amp and tubes.

Got real lucky. As fixing the tremolo/vibrato ended up being easy. And 98% of all components were within specs and darn thing fired-up on first try. See how the "second" break-in goes...

Indeed you did!

It doesn't look like the amp saw much stage use, if any. And the owner apparently knew how to store an amp properly.
