I have a SF Champ that i am planning on doing a cap job to. I got a kit on evil bay since they were the only ones at the time to have it.The can cap that is 40/20/20 mf and i also got 3 25mf/25v sprague caps. I have one question about a capacitor the wire that goes from pin 8 on the 12ax7 to the board on the amp's schematic is a 2mf/25v cap.Would it be ok to put a 25mf/25v cap in.

You can try a 25mfd/25 VDC cap. (BTW... I like to use 25 mfd/50 VDC caps, as the outlet voltages push overall voltages in a unit to 10-15% above OEM ratings).

Heck with only 2 mfd/25VDC... you can also try no bypass cap (if the old one is dried out) and see if it makes any difference in the tone.

+1

It's even more of a factor in the tweeds and brownfaces.

I agree -- too much of a value change IMO.
