This is pretty good description of the history and electronics of the Mustang, which make it a pretty desirable guitar for some players.

This will give you an idea what vintage dealers ask for the guitar.

Its still considered a student guitar by many, hence the value might not be what you were expecting.

Thanks phansford Ive checked out the wikipedia site before and I thought the guitar dealers site was helpful. I would never sell as it was a gift from my mother who recently passed away from cancer. The biggest question I quess I have is it an American made guitar?

Its American made.

You might consider getting it insured. It would probably just be a rider on your home policy. You'll probably need a written appraisal. You can't replace the memories......

Did you get an amp with the guitar? If so, what was it.

Post a few photos of the 'tang.

Great looking guitar. I had a Gibson Melody Maker when I was a kid I would love to have it back in my possession. But I sold it to help cover the money I spent on buying my Telecaster Thinline. College makes you do things like that.

The amp is definitely a favorite for many. Mom was pretty sharp to get you the Princeton Reverb rather than one of the other "Student" amps.

Welcome to the forum Scott-sweet collection you have there.I'm a Mustang fan also,I have a '65 and I love it.The current value of your guitar is around $1,350-$1,450 and the amp would be in the region of $475-$550 for non reverb or $825-$1,025 for a Princeton Reverb.
