I have a 78 vibrolux that i have been working on.So i was checking out the Tube amp debug page on GEOFEX.com, I was checking for vibrato problems it was ticking. So i blew the chassis out and heated the board with a hair dryer to melt the wax slightly, As what it says i should try. After i did these with out achievement i am having volume problems or too much of it.I put the volume on 3 and its like i was putting the amp on 10 it really really loud but the normal channel if fine. What could make this amp jump up in volume. that much.

Do you have the same symptoms on either channel?

Try either of these two procedures first, they're the easiest.

Clean the volume pot thoroughly with De-Oxit. Spin the shaft several times to work the solvent into the wipe and the wafer.

Swap out your V2 12AX7/7025 with a known-good tube.

If either of those measures does not clear the symptom then you'll need to start some static and dynamic tests of the components within the vibrato channel, up to but not inclusive of the phase inverter stage. V3, V4, and V5 could also be a contributory factor. Be sure to inspect the signal path for any wonky solder joints -- it wouldn't be beyond the realm for an amp of this age.

The first thing I would do is to check all solders (specially in the pots). Have you done it ?
