For anyone interested in building some small wattage/studio style SE amps, this is a kinda basic RCA-like receiving manual PDF file. One thing DO NOT make a power transformer-less amp. Similar to making a portable electric chair. :x

I have built several DIY SE EL84 and 6V6GT amps, off similar schematics. For 2-5 watt range, pretty cool little amps. FWIW.

Looks interesting but ... just reading the tolerance page (p7) , 50% tolerance on electrolytic caps??? Seems pretty high no?

Did you build any of these? Which ones?

Yes, I have built a couple of 6V6GT SE amps. And an EL84 amp. Based on similar schemos of this PDF file. You must remember, this book was published in 1946. The tolerances of caps and resistors were not all that great, at that time. You can use regular parts off the Net, these days... no problems.

if you are interested, I built a small amplifier based on a 6GW8. Only 2,5 watts with a single tube and using spares from an old record player.

I will upload the schematic if you want.

Yes, I would be interested in the ECL86/6GW8 based amp. The most unusual DIY guitar amp I 've seen in awhile is this output-transformless (OTL) job:
