Which of the aftermarket irons do you folks like the best? In terms of keeping the Fender tone (for amps where NOS OEM seems to be unavailable)? Heyboer? Mercury Magnetics (Axiom models or Tone Clone)? Or just try to use whtever Fender OEM is available and tailor it to the specific amp (like getting OEM from Angela)?

Thanks!

I like the Heyboer for value and fit.

+1

They seem to offer more options than MercMag as well.

Hammond also builds some pretty righteous trannies.

I haven't changed any transformers on my amps, but the '60 Super I bought last year didn't have the original PT and my friend put in a Hammond....sounds great.

I have Mercury Iron in my Plexi clone. Pretty smokin tones there.....Never seen a Fender with them though, so can't be of much help............http://www.mercurymagnetics.com/pages/c ... U-Misc.htm
