Ever thought about patching the input of the two amps together? Kinda get the best of both worlds and perhaps more flexible?

first question - why?

Second question - why not just run the marshall output into your Fender speakers?

If you want to have both, you'll need an amp head switcher, like the one Radial makes.

Otherwise, not a good idea.

peice of cake....run from the Marshall's effects send to the Fneder's effects return. BAM, this will make the Fender a slave unit.

The point is not how you can do it, but why does the OP want to do it? If we can understand why we'll have a better answer.

I don't see a point of using a full head as a preamp. Just use that head and be done with it.

the reason is quite simple: for the sheer audacity of it all. I'm a victim of super overkill myself, I can wait to run all my amps together in some sort of outrageous-absurd-super set up. This dude wasn't asking why, he's asking if it's possible. The answer to that is: If you can dream it, anything is possible! Now, let's rock and roll to the moon!

Were I so inclined, I could daisy-chain my dozen Fender amps together and end up with close to a kilowatt of RMS power.

But to what practical end?

Arjay

I presume that we all know not to use the speaker output of any amp, into the input of another amp. Only use a preamp out of an amp to the input or Power Amp In on another amp, and yes, it's OK, it won't do any harm, and might sound great. Obviously you want a speaker connected to any tube amp/head when in use, unless it has some provision to run without a speaker.

The reason to connect two amps together this way would be to get the preamp from the first amp to drive the second amp, either into the input jack or the Power Amp In on the second amp, like a very expensive and large effects pedal. Going into the input on the second amp, you will have two preamp sections to adjust the tone, one on each amp. And going into the Power Amp In on the second amp, then only the first amp's preamp will be in the mix. You can get some pretty cool sounds using two amps like that. I've done it with many amps this way, probably my favorite was actually a solid state Laney (sp?) 1x12 combo into the input of a 50 watt Marshall tube amp with a 4x12 cab, awesome sound. Of course you couldn't hear the Laney speaker. :)
