ive had this amp for some time now, was going to re build it but after i started pricing bits it was a lil too expensive... its in pretty bad shape, it was in a 2x10 cab which was destroyed long ago... the amp chassis is corroded and i cant make out a model num bt its a carlton amp, australian, takes 2 6v6gt power tubes, a ez81 and 4 ecc83's

when i e mailed the pics of the amp to the current boss of carlton he was all out of ideas...

from what i can work out it was most likley a 5 watt 8 ohm amp... has 4 inputs and a built in tremello...

has any of the old bods heard of this?

Was this amp modified at some point? Reason I ask, is I believe that Philips/Mullard didn't start producing ECC83 (Euro designation for 12AX7) until the mid-1950's. I believe that the earliest Fender amp to use the 12AX7 was in the early 1950's. And RCA/Sylvania had a pretty tight patent on the tube at that time. Only mil spec versions were made by other companies.

Pretty sure 6 volt rectifiers (EZ81, EZ90) didn't hit the market before the mid-1950's.

yes the amp was previously modded to take the newer tubes, the guy i got from did that in the 60's i believe, he's not sure what valves it origionally had...

still got the origional speakers bt the cones have been chowed by da roaches... cant make out any markings on them, too corroded but i measured them with a meter...

will try post sum pics later...
