Louis, I apologize for not getting back with you. The diagram you sent did look like a different circuit than mine. My friend came over the other day and helped me.We just replaced the 15k resister with a 5k and a 10k trim. Anyway thanks for your support. I know there is probably a better way of doing it but I am happy with it for now. I have been dealing with my tinnitus for the last couple of weeks. I thought I had lost most of my hearing in my right ear but most of it has come back. Right now the ringing is about the same level as my fridge running. I plan on buying a decible meter from radio shack to help me keep track of practice volume. BT

Stratele,
Your english for sure not bad at all, as I'm french and I can understand and appreciate your advices like a lot of fellow members in this forum !
About a good book to understand how to design with valves is:
Série Schaum, Circuits Electroniques, cours et problèmes, Edwin C. Lowenberg, 1976. (ISBN Canada 007.082.103.8, ISBN France 2.7042.0007.6)
It is a traduction from the american book "Electronics Circuits" (it should be a collector right now, may be second hand market) that found my brother where we were young. Really pragmatic and hand calculation oriented.

Aclempoppi, many thanks for the book reference, I'm going to pay attention on it, and also thanks for your feedback and constructive discussion (BTW, the link to the website does not match).

Many thanks
(I was aware of rewiring on kathode power valve)

If I can remember correctly, a 100-ohm resistor on each leg of the heater line is to create a ground reference point in a tranny that has no center tap off the heater legs. The purpose of this is to make the two legs of the heater line as close to 6.3 VAC as possible, by generating a grounding point. Or balance out any potential difference between legs due to PT winding, lengths of lines, etc.

Now, if you coil or twist the wires tightly they are more likely to cancel out the electromagnetic field generate around them. Reducing induced hum.

Note there is a difference between using small, precise resistors on AC and on DC heater lines. In terms of how you are trying to reduce hum.

EDIT: I didn't see all the pages of this thread. So sorry for redundant post.
