Hey guys, having a few issues with my 67 bandmaster. Wondering if any tube heads out there might pick up on a few things.

Pulled the old RCA powertubes out after going microphinc and put in some matched mesa's (temps). When i put them in they dont want to go all the way up like the RCAs did....hmmm

If the amp is switched on and off standby i get a screeching sound when i put my hand anywhere near the power tubes. If i switch polarity, the tube that howls switches as well...ground?hmmmmm

I was an $@! and played like that for a little bit...now im getting a crackling sound through the speakers, not staticy but crackling...all volumes and no no distinct pattern

Figured id take it in to dean zinc when i get the money, but i dont have the cash right now and im a little curious. Still learning the ins and outs or servicing tube circuits. If anyone wants to throw out a few ideas feel free. Its currently retired for the time being- its an oldy and could use a little tlc before plugging in again

The trem is always on as well, heard this was a common issue and was going to be my first K.O on this bad boy, now weve got bigger issues.

Try re-installing the old RCA's and see if the symptoms persist.

The tremolo circuit should be activated only when a footswitch or shorting plug is inserted into the jack.

When you replace power tubes, you must ALWAYS check and readjust bias.

It seems like those tubes are arcing ,not sure of the reason(probably the bias). You're going to want to check it out. Arcing in the tube or between the tube sockets is one thing, but you absolutely cannot have any arcing across the output trans. Art

Ive also opened a thread in "about" the fender forum didnt send any alerts to my email so i forgot about it. Anyways, ive moved it through the house to different outlets and have gotten different outcomes, only to once again move it back to the origonal socket and have crystal clear sound.....
I threw the old rca's back in as someone advised me to do and now it sounds even better, which is odd because the deteriorating sound and volume le to me swap tubes in the first place.
As i posted in another thread, my only issues now are with the trem channel. Muddy tones and low volume as well as the trem is constantly on or off ( always off if the switch is plugged in reguardless of steping on it and always on if it is not plugged in). Someone suggested crappy solder joint or preamp tubes for the second channel so far.

Tha ks for the input guys. So far too many different variables are affecting this thing for me to figure out, migt have to sell the house haha
