lol thats about the going rate around here lol, "but its fender". CL is slap full of them. then they get the keen idea to sell the guitar on one ad, and the amp on another trying to make some extra cash. in my area, i think the affinity and squier ads should be banned or you should have to watch a short film on pricing, public knowledge about pricing, and how to resale a $125 guitar/amp package. they will try to resale this crap and expect to make $75 because "its fender".

A while back there was somebody selling a Starcaster and a Squier 10G amp on our local C/L for $250. The guitar's description included this priceless prose......

"......only been dropped a few times (knocked off stand by baby sister) and has two minor cracks around the plate thingie that holds the neck on. plus our puppy chewed off one of the knobs."

After five or six re-lists with no bites he either decided to keep this valuable "relic" or his folks tossed it into the donation bin at St Vincent dePaul's.

arjay i swear it, these people on CL will try to sell things at an unbelievable price.
its to funny. they dont know what "used" means. its been a while ago but i had a guy try to sell me some used singles he "only had in his guitar a month" he told me, but owned them for like 6 months. i forget the brand even. well i researched the pups and did some price checking. well i got back to him and declined. he told me what a deal they were, sounded nice, but just not for the style of music he intended for the guitar.
well i replied to him with 2 links that showed where he was trying to make like $75 or so off the deal. (or close to it) i showed him that i could get the same pups new for like $75 or so cheaper. he got bent with me quick lol.
"well i paid a lot more for them than that" he told me and on and on. im thinking just because you a dumbazz doesnt mean im gonna be. it was so funny but very sad as that story reflects the norm on our CL in these parts. we have a handfull that deal correctly, always selling or swaping. you get in with them some really nice stuff comes down the pipe. thats where i got my 80s kramer baretta neck and 80s ESP body on the cheap. i see some nice fender amps roll through sometimes. when i get myself fixed i'll be looking for one or two as we have talked before about them.
there are a couple guys on there that buy high end stuff. they are always willing to make a deal. i dont know how these guys get so lucky to come across the stuff they do. i think they must travel for work or something and thats how they get things.
i have a friend that travels up and down the eastcoast for business. hes real heavy into reef aquariums. i have a couple too but hes big into it. i cant believe the stuff he comes home with, and on the cheap too. some stuff he gets and leaves at aquarium stores on consignment wherever hes at. he has a couple places here and there he deals with.
he makes killer $$ or great savings (penny saved......) on his hobby i'll tell ya that.
wish i could get involved like that but with guitar gear.
