Folks,

I recently bought a Vintage Dual Showman
I am struggling to find out what Cabinet I have here.
Its got a 10" and a 12" JBL. 12 is a D120, the 10" is an E120.

It looks like a genuine vintage Fender Showman cabinet but there are no labels or Fender badge. No screw marks where the badge would have been.

It has the exact, perfectly matched original vintage Turquoise grill cloth as is on the Amp Head.

I have pictures but not sure If I can attach them.

Thanks

Let's see if we can figure out what the beastie is.

What little I know of those amps makes me think the cab is not a match....it would have been a bigger cab, with drip edge trim, right?
So what is it Arjay?

Well I e-mail QG back with this after he sent me the pics......

"This is not a Dual Showman cabinet, Tim.

Nor is it a Fender cab of any type, as near as I can tell.

The hardware suggests that it may be of either Ampeg or Traynor heritage, with Fender-style grill cloth.

Or conversely, it may be a very skillful job of custom cabinetry. I've built many of these myself.

Regardless of pedigree, I'm certain that with the Showman amp head and a good set of speakers it's a great rig. Your amp is either a late '67 model or a '68. If it's a '68 dating later than May, it's likely to be the AB568 circuit rather than the more common AB763. Date codes from the trannies and interior shots of the chassis of the chassis will confirm one way or the other.

It's a great looking set!"

He hasn't told me the dimensions of the cab but IIRC both Ampeg and Traynor had enclosures with dimensions "similar" to that of some popular Fender models. However, I'm not aware of either company offering the mix of a 10" and a 12" in the same box.

We'll see when he reports back in.

Man !!! That looks like one stout cab ! My guess would be a top cab for a bass stack or one heck of a geetar stack. The amp head looks to be the early SF. I'm going for the 763 circuit. Great amp and cab ! Art
