Get out-a here ! Is that your collection, Beemer? That's all great, but lets see the Husky. Actually, have a friend back in California that was an open class MX pro that raced the Honda(500 ?). The last time I saw that bike, I couldn't even really get on board. That's how tall the suspension was. I'm really out of touch with dirt bikes. But I still lust after a Jawa Speedway bike, Trackmaster or Rickman Triumph. Great pictures, maybe Arjay unleashed a wild man ! Art

What's to be sorry for? It's a very nice collection.

Do they see much stage use?

Man is that cool ! Mine had the orange tank, but the frame, Akront rims, and those chrome covered Girlings are the same. Mine was the MJ model, so it had the black conical hubs. Gotta stop talking about bikes ! But that bike behind the 125, looks like a 360 enduro with that dual ratio tranny. How cool is that ? And don't let me get started on my Husky's mods, got that baby down to about 200lb unladen. BTW what the heck does "OCD" mean ? .......Just checked the Husqvarna site, my bike was the '72 MJ 400CR, guess I bought it in'73, but trust me we were married in 1974(I think). " Yes dear I remember quite clearly, it was November... " Art

OCD = Obsessive-Compulsive Disease. All hobbiest/fanatics have a degree of OCD. Some are near room temp. Some are near the Sun's temp. :D

I started racing bikes in the 1980's. I started on a (get this) 3rd-hand Hodaka. Boy, was I a laughing stock. And an endo-master trying to keep up with the big boys. First really good bike was a CR250R. Man that thing was FAST. The sharp angle of the forks sure made flying over whoops loads of fun. Knee slapping tank was the norm above 70 MPH. But few could out-corner it. I LOVE "brake-passing." Sure pissed off a lot of Euro bike riders.

Arjay, most of my amps were sold or traded to pros or semi-pros (weekend warriors). I've only had a few come back due to catastrophic failures. Couple developd shorted power tubes (yeah, RCA BP short sometimes). Maybe four barfed out all the $@!& in the main or OPT. The rest needed only typical tube changes, biasing, maybe a cap or resistor or two. I am totally sold on these old Fenders. Tone, reliability, ease of maintenance. Logic of layout. Think Leo should get a Nobel prize. For his amps and guitars. And Les Paul, too.

This photo is same years as my Honda CR250R. I put on Pro Circuit expanion pipe. Rejetted it for 4500 feet (I raced around Lake Isabella and Lucerne). And placed modded KTM lights for enduro races. Got to number "12." Then I dislocated my ankle twice, broke my collar bone three times, popped my shoulder outta joint (partly due to too much baseball), & maybe went through 5 helmets. The GF wasn't too keen on the trips to Antelope Valley Hospital ER. I still use my Shoei. Best darn helmet I ever owned.

Looked like link photo, but I put on Honda red tank:

BTW... a friend of mine used to race CZ's. He was like "5" for locals when Saddleback and that racetrack that was near Magic Mountain was still around. He had this super tricked-out 250cc. Boy, was he fast. He still rides. Has this hunky Honda XR600, all "Baja'ed out."

His CZ looked a lot like Jaroslav Falta's:

... You ride KTM's? I used do race them in the desert. 2-stroke 250cc. I just sold a restored Husky 125cc.

I ride a 1992 Honda CR500. Power sure beats good skills.

temporary high-jack ....

My street ride is a BMW K1200RSL - best road bike I've ever owned and I've owned plenty.

My off road ride is a KTM 380 EX/C (2-stroke) which is basically a 250 on steroids. I live in Canada but I've also ridden it in a fair bit in the desert. Two winter trips to Glamis (Oldsmobile Hill and area), several trips to Mesquite/St. George/Grand Canyon area, one to Puerto Peñasco and several to the gigantic sand hills at Rexburg. Rexburg is challenging. Even with an open class 2-stroke like mine you still have to paddle up and keep it on the boil or you don't climb very far. Had an old Husky CR250 back in the day and an even older CZ125 when I was maybe 13 or so. Also a few Hondas, two Kawies and lotsa Yamahas. No Suzies though. Best (non-paddle) desert tire I ever tried was a cheap IRC M5B. Just hooks up and goes.

Ok back to amps, now .....

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Glamis is crazy stuff. Peg it & hope for no new sand cliffs from the night's shifting winds. I kinda like the more "technical" stuff like up in the mtns. Start at desert and ride up to the snow (like at Tehatchapi or Olancha).

I think I my have hit 95 MPH on a CR500R once. Did it on a dry lake. Man, was slowing down a THRILL! The kind of tank slapping I only want to do once in my life. Never rode the street, except on a friend's Katana. Thing is awesomely scary. 80 MPH seemed like idling.

As far as I remember those chrome domes all belong to JBL's. Some had orange colored magnet covers and some had gray. I used to have them reconed at LA Speakers (in Hollywood). They were where the studio guys got their JBL monitors redone. I haven't used LA Speakers in prolly 10 years.

I use a hi-fi guy in San Diego, who redid my 4310 (L100) & 4333 (L300) monitors.

I knew I forgot some places-- Victorville ! And those red-framed Hodakas were really a popular ride. Had a younger guy who would go with us sometimes. He had a 100 Hodaka in a blue Rickman Metisse frame, and he could climb sand hills. Just amazing ! Guess it was because him and the bike were as light as feathers. At any rate, thanks for the bike indulgence. Art

"Victimville"......ARRRRRGGGHHH!

I hated that whole damn desert. I was stationed down there for a time in the '70s and made bi-weekly day trips from Edwards (California City) to Plant 42 (Palmdale) and George AFB as part of my regular duties. I think the CHP had pre-printed tickets with my name already on them -- they just wrote a number in the MPH column whenever they pulled my Challenger R/T over for speeding (this was back in the days of the "double nickel" limit).

I don't know about you, Arjay. Buckeye-Victorville, two of the premier garden spots on the South West map. Yeah my memories of Edwards AFB are not so good. My dad was an aeronautical design engineer for North American Aviation. He'd drag me along on saturday mornings, and I'd have to wait out in the car for hours(or so it seemed). Don't know what the heck they were working on(1959-60's) or testing. Art

That was around the time of the XB-70 flight test program, Art.

North American was the prime contractor for the aircraft, Art -- your dad might've been a member of the engineering staff.
