You'll find lots a great info in Wheeler's book. Another volume you may find useful for historical reference is Teagle & Sprung's "Fender Amps: The First Fifty Years". I've seen it available on both Ebay and Amazon.

You don't know the half of it, koocho!

I swapped a '65 Bassman head (worth about $125 at the time) straight across for that guitar. It was near-perfect, lacking only a hinge pin on the handle of the original HSC and a rear trem cover. Later, I traded it off for virtually peanuts.

That SFDR pictured above was bought for $800 about 8/9 years ago online from a music store in Fla.,the guy told me over the phone that some blues player had recorded an album in Miami's Criteria studio and had used the amp alot.I wrote the guy's name down to look for the CD and give it a listen, but never did,I'll have to dig up my notes on it someday.
As you know,Layla was recorded at Criteria. ....just a cool mojo sidenote.

It's a fine looking specimen, no doubt about it.

Yeah man,you know me,it has a Weber in it.
My son gigs with the amp and I shot the pic over at his place yesterday, everytime we talk about it he always says "that Deluxe sings".
And you know as well as anyone Arjay, they do sing and are as much a part of our sound as any guitar we use...lots of guys haven't figured that out have they?
