The Champ/Vibro Champ/Bronco amps require a slider-type switch to fit the front panel. I think the pickup switch from a Fender Mustang is a three-position type, with the requisite number of poles. That large Carling looks perfect for a Deluxe Reverb II though.

Indeed, stratele!

I need to research that further before proceeding.

Merci for the reminder, mon ami.

IMO a 3 positions slide switch need longer travel in the chassis hole. My tubes tester use some off them.

Thanks for all the tips guys. Used contact cleaner on the switch, pulled the power tubes and cleaned the sockets, crakling stopped when turning it off.
I like the idea of the 3 position switch. That way I can and a standby without any drilling or major modifying. I don't understand why fender didn't add one originally.
Thanks again everyone,
filerj

Indeed, it does seem to be a step "backwards" from the original incarnation.

Glad to hear that your DRII is back up and running smoothly.

Amazing how many "fixes" needed only cleaning and tightening. And maybe touch-up soldering. It's the first thing I do with any amp coming across the bench. Solves maybe 75% or more problems, esp in older amps.

+1 ! Considering my many experiences with bad solder joints, I even check my brand new amps and touch up the joints before they have a chance to become a problem. :)
