I made the current limiter that's in Weber's book and now when I power up an amp after I've done something inside,I always run it through that...makes me feel a little better than plugging in and doing the smoke test that way.

When I was working on it I cleaned it with q-tips and deox and contact cleaner top to bottom so it really sparkles now. Everything sounds real clean. The reverb is amazing. My landlord is a professional musician (toured with Willie) and he is going to come over some time this week and try it out so I can get a more pro opinion but it sounds great to me.
I dont do well on stage. I get all weirdo and nervous. Stage fright I guess so Im not looking for an amp this size. It was just a lucky find for me. I really want a Princeton Reverb so after I sell this one Im going to try to find a fixer upper and see if I can learn some more and end up with the amp I really want. Then maybe fix some more but if I can score a Princeton Reverb I dont think Id ever sell it.
Ive got a tool box going now for amp repair. Mostly hand tools and I got the fluke 87 and a weller iron. Next I think I will look into stuff like a current limiter. Or maybe I will build a 1 x12 cab. First I need to sell this heavy beast and get some bucks to work with.

Sounds like a good plan, OG. That stage fright can be a real drag for some folks, and others just thrive on the attention. For myself, I kind of shift into an actor mode and kind of start the eye contact at the back wall and move towards the front, then it's pretty easy. It's really amazing, that you can always find supportive folks in any audience. I must admit that playing at a new church will make me nervous for a bit. Because I know people are really listening and it's serious to some degree. But even there, things will loosen up and the congregation will get into our band's "happy-go-lucky" vibe. Always been lucky enough to have good bandmates ! Art

+1

Jack Daniels "preaches" to the congregations we play for......they're always receptive to our musical accompaniment.

And the reverend's "sermons" never fail to exhilirate and intoxicate.
