I think there are plenty of folks in this forum who know a LOT about tube amplifiers and I'm glad for it since I know very little about them. I have a solid-state amp. I've taken a lot of what I've read in this forum to better arm myself in picking out a tube amp. I tried a few amps in the store but also wanted to gain the insight, knowledge and experience that many guitar amp enthusiasts have.

While a store can be great for "hands on" it can't tell me what to possibly expect a year or more from now. For instance, "speaker break-in" and "tube biasing". Never thought of these before reading these forums. It gives me more insight into what I should know. Now is the guy at my local guitar shop going to tell me these types of things? Probably not...he may just want to ring up my credit card.

Just my opinion on the knowledge available here for the "newbies" like me.

+1

Which is one raison d'etre for forums such as these, Tyronne.

Good luck on the "hunt".
