okay this what my speakers say on my67 pro reverb CUSTOM ENGINEERED FOR FENDER MADE IN USA ELECTRONIC MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS BY UTAH ELECTRONICS SERIAL NO. 081828 328701 AND 2LETTERS OR NUMBERS I CANT READ THEN 2067 SO I guess i have a set of utahs. now I dont know how die hards feel about these utahs ,I VE DECIDED THERE STAYIN IN. I REALLY LIKE THEM!!! Whats your opinion?
oh RETROVERBIAL ARE YOU IN A BAND?WHERE EXACTLY is TOMESTONE COUNTRY? THANKS!!

Your speakers are indeed Utahs made in the first week of 1967 -- which is consistent with the other dates found on the amp. Honestly, they wouldn't be my first choice for professional use but they are (apparently) original to the amp and as you mentioned, do not sound bad.

If you google "Tombstone Territory" and check out their maps you'll see exactly where I'm at. And yes, I'm in a band......two, actually. I just returned from a gig in fact.

Indeed. The land of Wyatt Earp, copper mines, cattle ranches, and Apaches......where we still "pack our iron".

My choice for loudspeakers won't necessarily be anyone else's choice. If you're happy with what you hear then it doesn't matter what other opinions might be.

I bought a new silverface Pro Reverb in mid-February of 1970. It was an AA1069 circuit with a pair of Utahs and IMO it was the worst-sounding Fender amp to ever leave the shipping department at Fullerton. After consulting with a tech at another store who also did pro audio work, his advice was to replace the speakers. I installed a new pair of Jensen "Vibranto" concert series speakers and they made a substantial improvement. But I was never quite happy with the amp so some four months later I re-installed the Utahs, took it back to where I had bought it, then traded it in on a used '68 silverface Bandmaster set (with the "big box" cab). It had a pair of Oxfords as OEM, which I swapped out for my Vibrantos and they sounded perfect with the Bandmaster -- like they were made for one another. Later I would add a Vibratone to the mix and play that rig for about five years.

Nope......I'm not a fan of Utahs.
