I have a 5C6(Bassman) head coming through the mail and I was wondering if anyone plays through one.

I have a 5F1(Champ) and a 5E3(Deluxe) heads already but wondering what the 5C6 is like, not much info on that one, apparently it was the 52-53 TV Front Bassman.

Any info on that animal would be appreciated...

IIRC, the 5C6 Bassman chassis came in two parts -- the pre-amp section which mounted to the top of the cabinet, and the power amp section that bolted to the bottom. An umbilical cable linked the two and the standard speaker was Jensen's P15N. The control panel featured "volume" and "tone" controls only and the amp produced about 28 watts from its pair of 5881's. This Bassman used the larger 8-pin octal-type tubes in the pre-amp and a 5U4 or 5Y3 as a rectifier. The cabinet was the early "wide-panel" design with a tuned port on the rear of the box.

Yea, I pulled that info as well, the TV front I guess. The one I got coming is just a clone into a head, built by Tino Zottola himself. I guess I'll have to see when I plug it in which one will be my favorite plugged into my old Marshall 4x12.

Still waiting for Canada Post, cant track in the US and today is Vets day no mail. I'm definitely hoping to get it this week.

I can say that though, my 5e3 is alot more brighter and cleaner than 5f1. 5f1 breaks up sooner and at lower volume as one would expect. Then of course the 5e3 was built with a solid state instead of a tube so that probably contribute to the bass being more define and less muddy than the 5f1. The 5f1 is good for "dirty" blues in all it's simplicity, nothing but a volume knob. The kind of amp you want to put on the sidewalk and plug your Strat in...

Ok, took delivery a few days ago and had some time to test.

One of the tubes is crackling but gets better when the amp is nice and warm.

The bass response is great on that thing, better than my 5E3 with solid state rectifier. Now I know why they were designed for bass. Not muddy at all, very clear, it goes boom.

The range is also great, the highs sustain longer. So far it has become my favorite amp.
