HELLO EVERYONE!!! If we can put preference aside for the moment,Would you all say that this blackface is of equal or better quality than the VOX AC15 HANDWIRED HERITAGE AMP that I have? Im new to tube amps, and IM just curious to what the opinion of some of u is about that. ONE thing I dislike about the VOX, is that chimy bright tone yuk :? AND the fact there is no reverb , But hey what am Idoing this a fender chat room not VOX !!! :? I think I can really get some great guitar tones workin with these 2 amps together   .Any of you have a blackface pro reverb? thanks again  out!!

I consider a vintage Fender blackface anything superior to what's being built today -- by anybody.

I have a '66 BF Pro Reverb in almost mint condition,I've changed the speakers to Webers, and it is great!
It has the classic Fender tones, and enough power to gig with anywhere...it's not the only BF amp I own,but with either it or a Deluxe Reverb, you have the bases covered......and there's no comparison to anything modern imho.
If you use a guitar with single coils,it's a great combination for some reason.....
You asked.

IVE heard that and in fact I just read that in this book I grabbed from amazon,Its called THE SOUL OF TONE 60 YEARS OF FENDER AMPS BY TONY BACON. GREAT READ BEAUTIFUL LOOKIN BOOK WITH 2 CD DEMONSTATING VINTAGE AND MODERN AMPS. The author quotes that he believes that the blackface pro reverb is the best amp ever made.and similiar quotes by pros say if they were on a desert island a BF DELUXE REVERB is all they would need. This book is i believe part 2. Part 1 was THE STRATOCASTER CHRONICLES , which was amazing!!!!

You purchased an amp with no reverb and complain that it doesn't have reverb???

You don't like that your VOX amp sounds bright and chimey???

Did you test out the amp in the shop before you bought it?

I'm sorry......that book's author is Tom Wheeler.

Bacon has written some very useful tomes but he didn't write that one.

If I'm following this correctly(?) Koocho, you're thinking about adding a Pro Reverb to your Vox 15 set-up. Seems like the best of both camps to me. Don't know how much breakin time your Vox has on it. But any initial harshness should give way to some hot in-your-face tones. The tube choice for the Vox would be a tone maker's concern. I've heard a Matchless DC30 with a '66 Pro Reverb in unison. It was undeniably fantastic ! But I had to step out of the studio, after a few minutes, to preserve my hearing. Talk about a sound stage spread. Good Luck ! Art

HEY NO I didnt mean to complain I REALLY LIKE IT!!!I wasplanning and I DID BUY A REVERB PEDAL (BOSS 63 REVERB PEDAL FRV-1) I BELIEVE) (THAT PEDAL IS OKAY ITS DIFFICULT FOR ME TO DIAL UP A GREAT CONSTANT REVERB TONE) Im sure there are better but its a pain to search for one I LIKE) Thats why I BOUGHT THIS AMP WITHOUT REVERB , I JAMMED ON THE VOX AC15 IN A MUSIC STORE, without my guitar 10 min one day 10 min another day, cmon only after youve owned something for a while is when u see things you dont like about your purchase. I CAN EASILY DIAL UP TONES THAT ARENT BRIGHT AND CHIMEY ON THIS AMP, IM merely stating that these are the things iI DISLIKE about that amp (bright and chimy sometimes is cool just not all the time) (for me)
