I bought a MojoTone 2-"12 cabinet for my Dual Showman because I don't want to hual around a 2-"15 cab. I'm thinking of putting Eminence Governer speakers in it and was curious if anyone had used them before and if you thought they would sound good with that head.

It might help if you indicated what type of music you expect to be playing with this combination.

Some of the Emi speakers sound pretty good, others less so.

For a Fender silverface amp with 12" speakers, the Swamp Thangs sound pretty beefy for classic rock. The Governor always seemed to have a more scooped "British" sound to me, but not in the same manner as a nice broke-in pair of V30s or Greenbacks.

Assuming the same amp and cabinet configuration, for a rawer, more traditional blues vibe, I'd recommend Emi's Texas Heat. But I don't think these sound as authentic as the Weber 12A150s.

Thanks Arjay,
Somehow I knew you'd be the first to answer. :D We play everything from Classic rock, blues, country, and lots of original music. I mainly wanting a fat, tight, clean tone. No break up in the speakers, so I'm looking at the 75 watt speakers. I played the Showman at a recent show through a friends Marshall 2-12" and loved the tone. I can get Eminence speakers at cost so I'm looking at those first. I'll check out the Swamp Thangs to see if they come in a higher wattage version. Thanks for the help! 8)

I think the Swamp Thangs have 75-watt coils so they'd be suitable for your purposes. They sound pretty tight and seem to favor the "modern" tone but are equally at home for classic rock and new country. I installed a quartet of these into a client's 4 x 12 Crate enclosure (replacing some nondescript generic drivers) and they really woke that cab up with his Bandmaster Reverb head. For a skosh more "vintage honk" you might also consider Emi's "Red, White & Blues". I haven't used these but I have heard them in an AC30TB and they really shined, at least in that amp.

Best of luck, HTH
