Supro, great guitar-bigtime cool factor ! I've only played two guitars with a zero fret, a friend's Gretsch and an upscale Framus 335 style guitar. Both were very true sounding, all over the neck. The Supro's neck must be built very well, using good wood. Good to hear from you on the same thread ! Art

Rebelsoul, that LP & 50w Marshall must've sounded great, the real deal ! Actually, I'm a fingerpicker on either the electric or acoustic, unless flat picking is absolutely necessary( the bluegrass group pretty much demands it). I used to tune the acoustic to a Dm(DADFAD) back in the 70's-80's, when I was playing acoustic blues(not slide) for some pieces. I took a break from the electric scene for about 15yrs, playing in acoustic blues bands around the Chicago area. Think I might be headin' back that way. Kind of a geezer, I guess. Art

The Marshall was a great amp,I was crazy to sell it but I got into wanting a Mesa Boogie mainly because of listening to Santana and the sustain he was getting...of course I didn't get that because if you turned it up you couldn't stay in the same room and the preamp buzz never sounded good to me,my son uses it some now,but I went back to the Fenders and found the sound I had been missing.
The Les Paul had a big fat sound, you could get Duane's tone with it and the Marshall,I still have it.
If you're a finger picker, you will have no trouble picking it with a slide, the main difference is muting the notes with your picking hand ....just lay the finger back down on the string to mute the note when you want it to stop, that way you don't get all the extra notes slidin' around making a mess.

Hey Reb, thanks for the pickin' advice ! Ran into this Santana clip, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk8wNT2u ... re=related . Talk about sustain. From what I gather, he's using a Bludotone Universal amp. Not really a big Santana fan, but keeping up on amps, keeps me in touch. Not too good with computers and sharing sites, but it's "Smoke on the Water" that has that amp on it. Art
