Thanks a lot man, youre very helpful, nice project by the way, would like to know what type of screws are next to the tilt legs, the ones used to hold on to the legs.

This is how it looks, this is what i want to know...how to fix those two speakers.

First off, your amp is not a '65. From the silverface cosmetics, the offset speaker array, and its lack of a master volume control, I'd guess that it's something built between 1971 and 1975. If you examine the transformers on the chassis you'll find some numbers stamped there. Those numbers are a key to definitively dating the amp. From what I know of its pedigree thus far, I can tell you that the GZ34/5AR4 rectifier is not the correct rectifier for this amp. Use a 5U4GB instead. The speakers need to be either replaced or repaired by a professional re-coning shop. Repairing them is generally preferable to outright replacement.

I can't tell from the picture but is that a Large Cabinet version? Seems for a few years they did things oversize. Also just from memory I didn't the Master didn't come on Super Reverbs around the mid 70's, Sometime after the Twins. Not real sure about that. A little before that time, we used to install Masters on Fender amps in our TV Shop for local musicians wanting them, something Fender hadn't started to do yet, sometimes on the front but usually on the back panel.

Thanks for clearing some stuff up! So yesterday i made the frame for the grill but i didt know that to install the fender logo i neede a piece of wood to bolt it on, ill lget it today, by what Jhonny Z and all of you guys have advised i think that the tubes are fine, ill post up a video of me playing it so you can hear how it kicks, now the most important is the re-coning and sthetics. I read that it came with a footswitch wich i unfortunately dont have.

You can find compatible footswitches on Ebay -- about forty dollars IIRC for a vintage-correct reproduction. Be sure to order the one with RCA phono jacks on the cable ends.

I'm not sure it's cost effective to re-cone the speakers, it's kind of the right thing to do, but there are several other good choices for speakers including some vintage reissues. Be sure the speaker coils are good before doing this. I had a '66 Deluxe Reverb that needed the speaker re-coned, the paper on the cone was rotting away, due to the amp being stored in a damp barn in Oregon for several years. I had it re-coned by a professional shop in Portland, it was not cheap, the speaker coil seemed good but it never sounded quite right to me, too much break up. I replaced it with a new Fender Blue Label Jensen and it sounded much better, warmer and cleaner, less break up, more clarity. Then again I play Jazz and wanted a clean sound.

The condition of the coils are of no significance.

The re-coning procedure totally replaces the cone, coil, suspension, and surround with all-new components.

The only criteria for determining the fitness of a speaker for re-coning are that the basket (ie: the frame) is not warped or sprung, the magnet gap is free of corrosion, and the magnet itself retains sufficient charge. Rare-earth magnets -- aka alnico -- can be recharged, ceramic structures cannot.

Hey guys!

I took the risk of re-coning one of the two speakers, i went to this local shop with this old man, he knew it wasnt a car speakr and i told him what was it, he changed the suspension, the cone, dust cap and som other stuff, this is how it looks now, he did a good job, unfortunately he didnt had the vintage looking cone
