My experience, the tube tester works well for gain stage, PI, pre-amp tubes. However, I've had power tubes test well, but bias kinda weak in the amp. Most tube testers don't place kinda current and plate voltages onto a power tube, as the amp. But, if the power tube tests poor in tube tester, it most likely won't be good in the amp.

Just my 2¢ worth...

It's good to have people with different ideas doing the same kind of stuff.

At this point in my life I would rather play guitar than work on the bench.
