i just bought a fender super reverb amp for 980 euros...the previous owner told me tha is an original 1968 blackface model....
i tested ti and it sounds GREAT...the sound is a bit more bass coloured than i expected...
(i usually play only with my neck pick -up...and i turned the treble knob all the way up..)
Also atthe second channel(vibrato ,reverb)...the bright switch when its on ..is noisy...is that sth that can be repaired easilly???

from my research over the internet for this amps ...i can realize that there are some changes here...please check the photos below and tell me your opinion...

Super Reverb is a very good amp.

"The previous owner said is a original 1968"--mpats.
The covering ( tolex) is not original, and the front plate the name super reberb is non original too. The name Fender at the back ; not original.
You said the sound is a bit more bass colored..with bridge pickups....
Try to use another pickups combination. Is not because you alway use bridge pickups with your other amps you must use it with all amps. Amps have not the same sound.Need another set up.

The electronics of this Fender amp ( the amp itself) is very good, you have a great amp.

thanx for your answer...

i wrote about playing with my neck pick up(its bass coloured itself)
i just mention it to describe my settings while i first tested it.

i realised that the tolex is not original...is that a reason to demand a lower price?

how can i be sure that is a balckface since the front panel is not the original....???

thanx

It look to be Blackface...but not original. Good amp

Send us the number write on the 2 tranformers; 606......and all numbers write on the back of chassis. Look at the right side, there is; A 30...

And send us pictures of inside the chassis

The cabinet is no older than 1971......rabbet-jointed corners, glue-in baffle, velcro grille frame, staggered speaker array. The CTS alnico speakers are probably original to the cabinet.

Gut shots of the chassis will tell the rest of the tale.

Speaker 1377419 = 1974 ,19 th week

Transformers 606-3-45 = 1973, 45 th day. Other one 1974, 3rd day.

Your amp is a 1974

The front face plate look to be painted black ?
Go there you will see your amp : original look.

I concur -- it's a '74 (perhaps shipping from Fullerton in May).

Stratele, the final two digits in an EIA tranny code also refer to the week, not the day......same coding scheme as speakers, pots, etc.

Aside from the fact it's an export model, there's nothing really remarkable about this amp. In stock condition they're worth $750 to $900 here in the colonies.

Retroverbial you are right about the week and not the day.

I know that before and now I made a mistake. Thank you.
