Hi -
Im trying to save some money and get an early Silverface Deluxe reverb with the Blackface AB763 circuit so....
Whats the difference in circuit between a Blackface Deluxe reverb amp and a 69 drip edge AB763 circuit Deluxe reverb? or are they the same?
I thought they were really the same.....but are there minor differences? Like the kinds of Caps used etc..? But same circuit?
Im sure this question's been asked before - so forgive me - couldnt get much info from search function.
Thanks.

No functional differences.

However, the '69 model may not have the same attention to detail as far as lead dress is concerned. Likewise, it may have trannies from a different vendor (Better Coil & Transformer was certified by FMI to provide iron when Schumacher alone could not meet the increased demand during the CBS era). Thus, there may be some variation in tone between it and the earlier blackface amps. The OEM speaker in either case was an Oxford 12K5-6 but variations in tone and timbre occur even with seemingly identical drivers.

Thank you - so although its the same circuit, its all in the details!

When you say:

"Better Coil & Transformer was certified by FMI to provide iron when Schumacher alone could not meet the increased demand during the CBS era"

...that means that even if the Transformers carry the 606 (Schumacher) codes they may actually be made by BC&T.....correct?

thanks

No. The EIA code for BC&T is "831".
