I have a mid 70's Dual Showman Reverb with master volume. I've been told that it's basically a Twin amp without speakers. I run it through a Marshall 2-12" cab. It's loud and beautifully clean, but nowhere near as loud as my lead guitar players twin, even when I've got it dimed. Any thoughts?

The Dual Showman prefers a 4Ω load at the output stage.

What's the impedance of your Marshall 2 x 12 cab?

I'm not sure, I'll have to go to the office and check.
Thanks!

It's a 16 ohm cab, so maybe that's the problem. I shouldn't say problem because it sounds great!

Sounds like a pair of 8Ω drivers wired in series to me. Try connecting them up in parallel -- you'll instantly double the output of your amp.

You're quite welcome.

Please pay my receptionist on your way out the door.

The Super Reverb's speaker complement is only 2Ω -- which is a bit low for the Showman.

Be really careful about impedance mismatch. Go too low and you're looking for trouble.
