I have been thinking about selling my Gibson Les Paul Studio (purchased new in 09) to buy a tube amp. I put it on local CL for $1000 or possible trade for a tube amp and had a reply within minutes for a trade for a early 70s Fender Super Twin Reverb. the amp is in fair shape from the pictures he sent me (it is about 35 yrs. old) so my question is, what is the amp really worth? I would have to get some cash from him along with the amp so what seems fair? Here are some pix of the amp.

The Studio is in new condition wine red w/ gold hardware. That do you all think?

WARNING WARNING......!

"There is danger, Will Robinson!"

The Super Twin Reverb uses two specific and peculiar tubes that, if not already OOP, are very difficult to locate -- specifically, a 6C10 triple triode and a 6CX8 dual pentode. Lose either one of these bottles and you can stick a fork in the amp 'cause it's DONE!

Frankly, I'd pass this orphan by.

Best of luck, HTH

Arjay

The market seems glutted right now with plenty of used late-model DRRI's and TRRI's -- those amps are probably better suited for most conceivable venues (in terms of service and maintenance) than a 180-watt boat anchor.

Unless you're in a Ted Nugent tribute band.
