Hey,

I'm doing a little research for my father's cousin. We have taken his 1961 Vibrolux amp and matching jumper cabinet to a few different guitar stores. I have been told that the jumper cabinet is very rare, although it is not listed in the Blue Book of guitars and amplifiers. Any information on the history or value would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, I recall seeing a later (1964-65?) extender cab by Fender. It was a Model AA964 with Beige/Brown (wheat) grill cloth.

I'm not sure if it was a generic extension cab or specific for Vibrolux?

It may very well be a generic extenter cab. I looked for a model number and could not find anything. Both the amp and the cab have the beige grill cloth without the fender emblem. They seem to have the same tolex wrap. The amps actually match his case for his '61 Jazzmaster.

Thanks[/quote]

The first picture is from the book "The soul of tone" page 244
The second one is from " The fender Amps, the first fifty years, page 198.

As I can see, they don't talk about those cabs in those books.
Is your cabinet there ?

The smaller brownface-era combo amps (Princeton, Deluxe, Vibrolux) did not feature the grill-mounted logo. One had to step up to a Super, Pro, Concert, Vibrasonic, Vibroverb, or Bandmaster to rate the prestigious Fender badge -- likewise probably with the available matching Fender extension cabs of this period.

I recall that a few years ago a brown face Deluxe complete with a
matching extension cabinet was auctioned on ebay.
I think the cabinet was the same as the amp cabinet, sloped front, but
had some kind of filler at the top where the chassis would have been.
Does this sound like yours?
