I know this is a common issue, and I'd like some guidance on the best way to troubleshoot: I'm having a little weirdness with the Pro-The reverb does not kick on or off when switched, although contact is made--with vibrato it it faint, then sometimes it kicks in. When the switch is pulled out, the reverb does not respond at all. I switched tubes in V1 and V6, though they are different-this fixed it for awhile but only for awhile-V3 and V4 control reverb and vibrato, right? I'm wondering if it is a tube issue, a switch issue or wiring. The reverb tank "explodes" at every setting it seems. Any thoughts?

Hi Bob, V2 and V3 amplify and drive the input signal into the reverb section, and V4 amplifies and mixes that signal after the trans and tank. V5 is used to oscillate the signal for the vibrato effect. V6 basically drives that signal into the power tubes. My guess is that a good cleaning, with contact cleaner, of all the tube pins and cable plugs will help. I think, that while replacing V1(normal channel) and V6, a tube or plug was bumped, causing a good contact. So I'm hoping that just a good cleaning will get you back in shape. Art

I've had similar symptoms and it was the coupling caps on V3. This on a 66 Pro Reverb.

Turned out that the reverb tank needed a rebuild (which was my suspicion). Very crisp-sounding now. Thanks for the feedback.

Way to go, Bob ! Were the springs loose or were the transducers having problems? Art

I didn't do the work, but the wiring was needing to be redone-I think there may have been transducer issues. It had been like that for awhile-I need a new rectifier tube in the Pro, but it does sou d really crisp now-clean but with a lot of thump.
