I have a 64 Tremolux that has (12") replacement speakers with a tore cone. I want to put in new ones. How vintage should I go. What is the balance between classic and bringing the new technology and till having a good tube amp sound.

Leaning towards Eminence Legend 1258 75W

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions.

Matt didn't know you had 12" speakers in your amp. Still going with Weber, I've had very good luck with the California and the Chicago 12's. Actually, I have a Weber California ceramic and a Celestion Vintage 30 in my '67 Band Master cab. Don't have much experience with Emminence, but I'm sure they make some very nice speakers for your use. I don't think that I would choose a high watt speaker for the Tremolux. Something more like the 25-50 watt range. So the amp can drive and tickle the speakers into some musical excursions. Yeah, it's just my subjective opinion. Art

I've enjoyed my Weber 10's in both my Princeton and Princeton Reverb.

FYI - the company now known as Jensen is not the same Jensen speaker company from back in the day; some people have found their new "reissues" perfectly fine, and others have been disappointed compared to the originals.

Shoot the folks at Weber an email telling them your amp, guitar, playing style and tonal goals, and they'll suggest a good speaker combo.

art - I like the matchup of the Weber Cali and the V30 - has to sound like the best of both worlds!

In particular, the "MOD" series.

They have "no redeeming social value" and in fact, sound like raw......(fill in the blank).

Yeah Ned, It's kind of like my Tele(the license infringement '85 Ferrnandes). I have a Seymour Duncan P90 in the neck and the vintage Seymour single coil at the bridge. One foot in the Hilton and the other in the alley. Art
