Has anybody heard of vintage Fender amps being made at a location in Santa Ana, instead of Fullerton? I see them on eBay every so often and I'm not sure if they're fakes or just unusual. I think I even noticed on one of the speaker codes "023", instead of "022".

Thanks!

This is a little late, I guess!!! I have a Showman made in Santa Ana. I came to this site looking to see if anyone knew what year they were made there, as I cannot find a cereal number (Hey, Mikey!) as some industrious person drilled a bunch of extra holes in the chassis, plus the amp was left out in someone's garage (crimes against humanity, right?) and it has some rust on it, as does the PT, which according to MMagnetics is actually good for a transformer (helps insulate it better). I am thinking this guy is a '66 or '67...any takers? Thanks!

Pics would be a big help to pin down the "birthday".

That said, take a look at the EIA codes stamped on the trannies and the pots. Likewise, there may be a build date ink-stamped on the underside of the chassis adjacent to the biasing circuit. Either of those will reveal all.

Well, I am ChatBoard photo challenged and wouldn't have clue one how to upload pitchers to this a-here Fender Community Techno post-it board; but Jesus and I thank you for your information and your kindness, as we spread His word in our Camry
(John 3:3)!

Faintly revealing itself on the underside of the chassis, as you promised, is a number beginning with "P0" and ending with "67," which I had seen earlier, but thought that to be too easy. Hard to see what is in between...if I didn't know better, I would say that this a-hear machine was quite warm at some time, as I can faintly see some cereal numbers (again, hey, Mikey!) where they ought to be, but look like they have been pretty well annihilated. I am presuming that this was born in 1967, which was one of my two presumptions, having lived around these things since around 1960! I would not have clue one what to do with a tranny number, though! Thanks again!

Seeing as how you seem to know your way around a keyboard, simply type out the tranny numbers you find within your next post.

I can only decipher what I can see or what I can read.

WTF?!?!?!?

The transformer numbers will be on the bottom side, maybe starting with a 606-xx-xx,something like that,...... you're kidding me,Mercury magnetics said rust helps insulate a transformer?
