Thanks, Nedorama!

Having built plastic scale models for a number of years, I'm pretty detail-oriented and have a good eye for discerning contruction and finishing methods.

Later this summer that Bandmaster head as shown will be replaced with a Showman amp that I'll be restoring soon. The Bandmaster will be going out to my brother in Sacramento, along with a vertically-oriented Showman cab that I'm currently building for him. He's a bass player but he wants to have a "guest rig" on hand for visiting guitarists.

Arjay, you're a generous brother! The Bandmaster is one of my favourite amps, sweet, tight, but powerful enough.

Well I have two other Bandmasters -- a matched-set one-owner '67 drip-edge SF and another '67 head that I converted to a brownface 2 x 10 combo. So I can afford to be a samaritan. I've given more than a few things away in my time......

Let me make clear the background. I got it 31 years ago at age 16 (my dad paid $200). It was painted black (over the original tolex) and had the original grill cloth (wheat with gold). My dad and I stripped it then and sanded it down and stained it. We trashed the tolex and grill cover. Wish I had it in its original condition, but I don't. I also need the red lamp cover and the outlet on the back of the amp.

I would like to post before photos. Is there a free public site I can use?

Thanks for all your replies.

Photobucket is a free hosting site for pics.

And you can find a pilot lamp jewel (in various colors) and an AC convenience outlet on Ebay.

Best of luck and post those before/after pics.

Very nice! the varnished (?) wood cab looks pretty good on its own!

Can't wait to see what happens when you do all of the refurbishing.

Wow!

Ok, I am motivated to work on the amp. If the cabinet back is 28"x18.5" how much overlap is needed to rap around the corners? I want to order the correct amount of tolex.

Thanks guys for all you infor!

The speaker cab's side pieces (where the tilt-back legs are mounted) are glued on first and lie beneath the top and bottom pieces -- the same for the amp box. The top and bottom pieces will be precisely as wide as the chassis opening in the head cabinet and precisely as wide as the baffle board opening in the speaker box. The overlap should be ½ inch in all instances.

This pic may help......

Thanks for your reply.

Just place the order with Mojo. Previously, you said to use DAP red label, that is the "Weldwood Original Contact Cement" available at HomeDepot

Also, why are my photo showing up as a link and not viewable as your are?

Thansk!

You need to use the correct Photobucket link, Matt -- that's all.

Image

Where your album reads "get link" for each image, select the one for use on bulletin boards and discussion groups (full size).

And yes, this adhesive is the type I use.

Best of luck

Arjay, thanks for your replies.

Do you think a quart of DAP will be enough for a Tremolux?

Also, I found the proper IMG link in photobucket. Thanks for your patience with this old guy.

I'll post pic during the deconstruction and restoration. Hope to start this weekend.

Have a great day!

Matt, I can't give you a precise answer since I've never restored a Tremolux. But my experience with a Showman cab showed me that job required one quart plus one pint of adhesive to complete. I'm guessing that one quart should do your Tremolux fine though.

(mebbe "chomeface" can enlighten us with his usual plethora of extremely useful pics and regale us with tales of his expertise.)
