Hello All. I bought this amp new back in the day. After blowing the speakers shortly thereafter (It was the punk years), I had the amp installed into an old empty bassman head and built a 1x12 cab. After sitting idle for the last decade, I've decided to fix it up a bit and put it back into use. The dumb questions are:

1 - The reverb unit is unplugged and has red and grey colored RCA plugs. Which is the input and output? (They're not marked)

2 - I'm building a new closed speaker cab and was thinking of installing the reverb unit into it instead of the head. Would the speaker magnet or pressure have a negative effect on it? It had a buzz when turned up past 3-4 when wedged under the transformer in the head cabinet.

Many Thanks,
-Z

Hi Z, the red RCA plug should go into the reverb input jack on the amp. If the tank is hooked up backwards it won't work, but it also won't hurt anything. Locating the tank in the bottom of the speaker cab would be fine. It would be about the same as having it in a combo amp. If it's a closed back speaker cab, you could mount jacks on the cab for the tank. Art

Hey Z, I was giving the closed back speaker cab design a little more thought( I hate it when that happens). I was wondering about sympathetic vibrations and the pressure effect, that you mentioned. If the cab is ported, then I would not be concerned about the pressure. Either way,if it were me, I'd mount the tank using reasonably soft rubber isolator washers or grommets. I would also consider using some type of acoustic sound absorbing or wave breaking material over the top of the tank. This sounds like an interesting project. Of course, you could mount the tank side ways on the outside, in a boxed compartment on the back of the cab. I mounted my tank side ways in a stand alone reverb unit that I built last year. Just some thoughts. Art

Hello again Art.
The cab will be ported as well as have 1" dampening material around the sides & back. I'm glad to get a 2nd opinion confirmation of my plan. The rubber grommets are a good idea. I also may end up rewiring the reverb connections to a TRS jack on the back of the cab instead of 2 RCAs.
Tanks again for your Input (sorry - couldn't resist!),
-Z

Yeah Z, that seems like a neat idea to use the TRS jack. Hope this project works out well and Welcome to the forum. Art
