Hey all

Just got my hands on a fender twin and i was wondering a few things and was looking for info
1. Its a complete mismatch of tubes and no two alike a full re-tubing would be a good thing right?.

2. whats a good set of speakers to put in it seeing how the ones in it are Peavey ,,,,WTF ??

3. How do you bias a amp like this ,, i have a few other fender amps with the bias dial and what would the bias level be on this amp??

Cheers
Mike

Hi Mike, the mismatched pre amp tubes are fine, as long they're doing their job and sound good. You might want a mathched quad of power tubes, if your's are drawing different currents. Those Peavey speakers may be alright, unless you don't like their sound.
The '71 Twin Reverb has the power tube balance control, not a true bias adjusting control. If you install a new set of tubes, you can check their idiling current( lets say 30ma to 35ma per tube at about 480VDC plate volts). Then balance the control for the quietest operation. Recheck the bias after 12 hours, unless you're buying pre burned-in tubes. Art
