hi there, me again sorry, haha i was trying to connect my shure sm58 and my fender highway one HSS on my bassman ten 1976 AMP on Normal Channel, but the result was that the guitar is at a very good volume level but the mic is too low.... i have them connected SM58 (input 1), strat (input2), same if i change this order and this also happen with my twin reverb... the only thing im trying is to use my line6 dm4 as volume control for the guitar so in that way the mic is higher, but i dont like too much the idea of havin the master volume at 5 and the channel volume kinda same and my guitar lowered.... :( any thought?

please ahaha i want to rehearse with this amp any suggestion?

thank you guys. 8)

what kind of cable are you using to connect the SM58 to the amp?

Try using a tube mic preamp. ART makes a very good one for about $30.

If you're using a XLR-1/4" cable for the SM58, that's your problem - a low impedance microphone going into a high impedance guitar amp.

Go to radio shack, get a XLR-1/4" transformer adapter (about $15) and use a regular XLR cable. Does the trick. We have an old Peavey PA in our practice studio that has Hi Z (impedance) inputs and use those when we're not using our regular PA.

To make sure it's not the mic, cable or amp, make sure that you try the mic with the adapter on the good guitar channel.

you don't need an adapter, you need an impedance transformer. They look similar, but do very different things:

this is what you need:

http://www.hosatech.com/product/340102/ ... o_14_in_TS

or

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... Id=2062443

if you're using a cable with an XLR on one end and a TS on another end, or just an adapter, you've got the wrong part. They're under $19 and good to have around for just this.

Note - because the transformer sticks out a fair amount, you can break the jack off fairly easily. A good habit is to put the mic cable through your amp handle from back to front and then plug it in - this also helps from having your plug come out (but increases the chance of your amp falling over...)
