I've been trying to find how much these are worth now but can't find anything on completed listings in ebay. Any ideas?

First place you can check is the The Fender Field Guide.

It lists all the vintage Fender Amps with quite a bit of information about each amp. There is a macro at the bottom of each page that tracks ebay sales for the last 18 months. They also chart the high, low, and average sales price. (let's call this the "wholesale" value) I noticed the Vibroverb page is only tracking the last ten months.... I have to assume they just got this macro going.

You can also check out www.gbase.com , which is a website where vintage dealers list their items. You can search for a number of things..... This should give you a "retail" value.

Here's search for "Fender Vibroverb" with dates 1963-1967

Hope that helps

I came into one a couple of years ago for......$50. Needed new caps and tubes, the 15" is amazing in it-Darn near the holy grail. Shame that it will rarely have the cover taken off or get used for a gig. Even kept the vacuum cleaner-style cord.

Congratulations, but man, you gotta play it - it was made for music not dust. Sure, you don't have to take it out of the house, but you should play it regularly, it will keep the electronics happy and won't reduce the value of the amp at all. You should have the experience of glorious Vibroverb tone - why deny yourself?

Nick-Don't kid yourself, I do play it, and when I get in a band again I WILL use it-even at the right gig! Got plenty of amps to keep me happy-In fact, next time I plug in (when the wife ain't around, say, lunchtime tomorrow) it will be glorious Vibroverb tone. Thanks for putting me wise, and good taste on your lyric quote!

Thanks Bobbya - Bowie and Iggy, what a combination! Sometimes I think if all Bowie ever did was produce, co-write, and play on Iggy's Lust for Life album and Lou Reed's Transformer he would still deserve legendary status. He got the best work out of both those guys IMO.

And, phew, that's a relief... when I read the dust cover was rarely gonna come off my little heart sank. As a happy owner of a Vibroverb myself I wish every guitarist could have the experience of blackface tone through that PHAT 15. I would love to get a closed back extension box made with a second 15 in it - for some of that dual showman cab kinda sound! No way do I wanna lug around a box with two 15s in it, but adding another one under the Vibro combo would be heaven! As it is I'm using an old Fender 2x12 box with the VV and the extra spread and air being pumped is just fantastic.

How true! There's just no denying the tone of that 15" er in there. I hook mine up to my SR and the tone is just killer!

Here's a video of me playing the intro to Rude Mood using the vibroverb & the Vibrolux. What do you think of the tone?

Cool man, you got it! Sounds great, even with the crappy mic on the video camera you can hear it's pumping in the room. Nice, nice. I love the SR too, but decided on the VibroV because it just has a little more headroom, and I'm lovin the 15. I'm still on the search for the right amp to run as it's stereo partner, and lately I'm thinking the bassman 4x10 could be just right. The SR is too close to the same sound for me, but the bassman has that nice spread of the 4 x 10s and a different tonal sweep that compliments really well. I play in a band with a bassman owner and he often leaves it at my place between gigs, so naturally I run it with the Vibroverb and damn - it's good. :!:

Hey Brian--I will give your video a look and listen soon-Nick, I ran my SF Pro Reverb (converted to BF) and the VV together last night-pretty different-The Pro is a little more Hi-Fidelity/transparent and way more bassy with similar settings. It won on pure clean sound and headroom, and I like the reverb on it better, but the VV DUSTED it on overdriven sounds and overall character-the tremolo isn't as defined as the Pro, but it is more subtle and sweeter sounding. Two more things-The VV made the hollowbody characteristics of my 335 really stand out, whereas the Pro makes its solidbody flavor more prominent, and there's even a bit of a fat Stratty sound that can be coaxed out of the VV (though that could be the pedals and my playing style too). This might be a combo worth checking out, as they sound really, really nice together--Very rich and full sound when running both.

Oh man, I wish I coulda heard that! Thanks for sharing your very enlightening adventures in Tone... yeah, I've always thought the Pro Reverb was one of the most under-rated Fender amps. I was actually looking for one when I bought the VV, they have so many of the same features in a good combo. But there aint many around in Australia, lots of the 90s ones, but I wanted pure blackface.

That's an excellent idea as a stereo partner for the VV tho. I'll keep my eyes open for one. Superb amps. You're a lucky guy :!:

Hey Brian--Nice work on the SRV songs-you nailed the tone and the phrasing, and the VV and SR make a nice combo. I'm going to mess around with the VV/Pro combo some more with a strat--though, to be honest, Mesa/Boogie Studio .22 is the workhorse these days.

The Pro Reverb is head-scratchingly overlooked-Basically a Super Reverb with 2-12"s, which I prefer to 4-10"s. It's very loud, but great clean sound, a LOT of thump, and a nice partner to a Vibroverb. In his first tube amp book, Aspen Pittman called the BF Pro the best rock-n-roll amp ever.
