It was a great amp back in the day but one heavy sucker to lug around. Anyone remember these?

Yep. They had a few of others too the Libra, Scorpio, Taurus. The were the solid state line in the 70's. The had a ton of transistors something like 26 or 28 silicon transistors I believe and JBL Speakers. I remember they were pretty loud too. Not real popular though. I always worried about transistor amps back then LOL. I never liked them that much, but they were a huge improvement over the solid state Twin of the 60's.

Yeah, it had JBLs and weighed over 100 pounds (for a combo!). Even with casters, it was HEAVY to move around and stairs were a real PITA.

I remember buying it used as an upgrade from an Ampeg Jet-12 that I had, but needed more volume...didn't we all back then? LOL.

I hear ya Mike, I've got a 70's silverface Twin-reverb that I've thought about selling recently. Even at 80 lbs, it is still a real pain to get upstairs and downstairs from my practice room.

Same here I have a 76 Twin. I bought an Egnater Rebel 20. It's a lot easier on the ears and the back.:D The head only weighs in at 16lbs and it comes with a padded bag that you sling over your shoulder. The cabinet weighs 31 lbs. and it's really small. I've had the big 2x12 Bandmaster cabs, Sunn 4x12 and Marshall 4x12 cabs too.

The funny thing was the old Capricorn amps were solid state and still weighed a ton. Especially compared the SS stuff today. I really doubt if you'll see any of the current SS stuff today going 30+ years. LOL
