I know that an old blackface would be the ideal Deluxe Reverb, but let me ask this....

Are there any years to avoid?

Any Deluxe Reverb, with a hand wired tube preamp and tube power amp, be it blackface , silverface or treble boost switch equipped, is a great amp.

They are all good and they all can be tweaked to be even better.

I've never heard of any complaints regarding certain production years for these fine amps.

Even pull boost volumes are fine - as long as you don't use the pull boost.

Save some money and get a silverface; the circuits didn't change that radically. Any amp you get will likely need new tubes, new eletrolytic capacitors, and a general going over - work with a good amp tech and have them rebuild it to what you want.

I think they're all great amps. Don't like the push/pull tone, but then again, never needed to use it on my S.F amps. as they sound great as is.
