So a month or so ago I bought a Bassman 10 (silverface 4x10)
I don't use it for bass. It's 50 Watts, and I've been thinking it's not nearly as loud as it should be.
It's currently barely loud enough to play with a fairly hard hitting drummer at full volume. From all that I know and hear 50 Watt tube amps should be plenty loud to play with a drummer and should be able to drown out a drummer if pushed hard enough.

Basically this is my question: Is this about as loud as it should be or Should I get it looked at? or if you think it is a problem.... is there anything I can do to get it working properly.

That doesn't sound right to me. You should easily be able to cut through the drummer. I would get the amp checked out.

Could just be the power tubes. Are the speakers original? If not it could be an impedance mismatch if the load don't match the amp, or even power supply caps. I'd take it to a tech and get an estimate.

This amp should undergo a complete bench check to learn where the problem lies. It could literally be anything -- from expired tubes, toasted components, partially-shorted windings in the output tranny, even one or more dead speakers.

More then likely worn power tubes

Question may have already been asked, but did you check the bias of the output at idle (no inputs, volume at zero)? If bias is so low that you need to crank the bias pot (if it has one) to full blast or the idle bias wanders all over the place... power tubes prolly need replacing.

Also, weak gain stage tube (12AX7) could be culprit. If you have a new 12AX7 lying about, try subbing it into each position one-by-one & listen for volume changes.

Good luck with that!
